So how does a strobe tuner work? It shows the difference between a reference frequency and the musical note’s frequency. Nice that the pad is not installed, should you want to apply Velcro directly to the housing for mounting on your pedal-board. The ST-200 comes with a battery installed (good for 12 hours / 1000 tune-ups per Sonic Research), a 28 page Owner’s Manual, and a un-installed non-skid rubber pad for the bottom. The Sonic Research website has a wealth of information regarding both models that I will not recreate here. The Turbo Tuner is currently available in two models the ST-122 True Strobe Tuner which is suitable for both desktop and pedal-board and the ST-200 Stomp Box Strobe Tuner. After a little research I learned of a recent entry into the market called the Turbo Tuner from Sonic Research. It didn’t take long for me to realize the procedure would benefit greatly from a more accurate and stable tuner.
